International consultation

WA-NEWSLETTER-JUNE-2020Download

As of 1 July, World Archery once again recognises national
events that are registered in its calendar for the purposes of
world records and performance awards. The international
calendar is still on hiatus. Over the past few months, World
Archery’s event staff has worked on options to hold a shortened
schedule of tournaments in the autumn. This process will now
enter a two-week consultation phase. A final decision on the
2020 season will be announced no later than 15 July.

COVID-19 fund
Thirty-five international athletes will receive grants from World
Archery and the Foundation for Global Sports Development’s

was made available by the Foundation for Global Sports
Development solely for the purpose of financially assisting
archers whose income had been lessened by the COVID-19
pandemic. Some 122 archers submitted applications and 40
were accepted for the second phase of assessment.

Governance
Improvement
The Association of Summer Olympic International Federations

achieved in previous editions, and now comfortably exceeds the
target of 120 set by the ASOIF governance taskforce. The result
is above average for federations with a staff size of less than 20
and a budget of less than eight million CHF.
